This month has been a very busy one, with lots of orders from all over the world, but we are also working on a new cajon, here you can have a look at it:

We have had several new arrivals in our roster: an old friend who took part in our documentary The Ways of the Cajon, Roger Soler came by, just as two young and gifted players who are playing great on the Barcelona scene, Manuel Masaedo and Erik Castillo.

Also Ramón Leon Matias who is one of the pioneers of the cajon in Belgium has joined us, and drummer- percussionist-performer-composer , aka PercuAutora, from Madrid, Virginia Rodrigo is in.

Hemos tenido nuevas llegadas a nuestra plantilla de esponsorizados: un viejo amigo que tomó parte en el documentario Los Caminos del Cajón, Roger Soler, vino a visitarnos, así como dos jovenes y brillantes percusionistas que se están dando a conocer en la escena Barcelonesa, Manuel Masaedo y Erik Castillo. También Ramón Leon Matias, que es un pionero del cajón en Belgica se ha unido a nosotros, y la madrileña baterista-percusionista-cantante-compositora, o mejor dicho, PercuAutora, Virginia Rodrigo.
Finally we had the chance to introduce our products into the US market: thanks to our new distributor Big Bang we were able to display our cajons and present the Siroco.
The reaction was really good, a lot of people stopped by at the booth: Marco Fadda came with me, and while as he was playing away, I explained the special features of the new cajón, the welcome was excepcional.
Many US pros were impressed: Luis Conte, Ron Powell, Kevin Ricard, Hector Torres, Pete Korpela and Richie Gajate, who even became official endorser.
The show is amazing, and it was really worth taking part, I think the cajón is going to evolve in this country, and I am especially curious to see what contribution will drumkit players give to the instrument.
This factor could even end up creating a new style, a new breed of original cajon players.
Drummers like Ulysses Owens Jr, Dave Weckl, Stewart Copeland and Sheila E will be benefited from the new technical applications, like the cajon pedal for foot playing and the add on texture pads for brushes, because this will allow to apply drumkit concepts in a direct way, with results that could be surprising.
One of the most thrilling moments was when I personally met Mr. Remo Belli, founder of the mythical company that bears his name.
I hope that 2012 cmay be a good year so that we may do it again in 2013!
Por fin hemos tenido la oportunidad de presentar nuestros productos en el mercado de los Estados Unidos: gracias a la distribuidora Big Bang, pudimos exponer nuestros cajones y presentar el Siroco.
La acogida ha sido muy buena, muchísimas personas se pararon a mirar en el stand: Marco Fadda que vino conmigo estuvo tocando mientras que yo explicaba las caracteristicas del nuevo cajón, y la acogida fue excepcionál.
Muchos profesionales estadounidenses se entusiasmaron: Luis Conte, Ron Powell, Kevin Ricard, Hector Torres, Pete Korpela y Richie Gajate que incluso se hizo endorser oficial.
El show es impresionante y ha merecido la pena participar, creo que el cajón va a evolucionar mucho en este país, sobretodo estoy curioso por la contribución que los bateristas podrán aportar.
Este factor podría incluso llegar a crear un nuevo estilo , una escuela de cajoneros originales.
Bateristas como Ulysses Owens Jr, Dave Weckl, Stewart Copeland y Sheila E se beneficiarán de los nuevos adelantos tecnicos como el pedal para tocar con le pié como si fuera un bombo, y los parches removibles para tocar con escobillas permitirán la aplicación de los conceptos bateristicos de manera directa, con resultados que podrían ser sorprendentes.
Uno de los momentos más emocionantes para mí fue conocer en persona el señor Remo Belli, fundador de la mítica empresa que lleva su nombre.
Espero que en el 2012 sea un buen año y que podamos repetir en el 2013!

This month we received our first 5 star review on the prestigious UK's Rhythm magazine.
The great thing about it is that it was our Maestral model, that has just had its patent extended into an application for international validity.
2011 finishes with another great new: we finally secured a distribution deal in the USA with a company named Big Bang distribution, and we will be at 2012 NAMM fair in Los Angeles.

Este més recibimos una reseña de 5 estrellas por la prestigiosa revista britanica Rhythm. Un logro con especial significado, siendo este juicio para el modelo Maestral, que acaba de tener la patente presentada para su extensión internacionál. El 2011 se acaba con otra gran noticia, por fin tenemos un contrato de distribución en EEUU con la empresa Big Bang, y vamos a estar en la feria NAMM de 2012 en Los Angeles. Ladies and gentlemen, we are happy to announce that our friend and endorser Rafael "Poti" Hermoso Trujillo has been called by the great Master Paco de Lucía to join his group on its current world tour.
His debut was in Tel Aviv, followed by shows in Moscow and Oslo.
Tomorrow he will be playing Genéve, then Zurich, Paris , Breslav and Istambul.
The dream of every Flamenco cajonero has turned reality for him, and we are even prouder, knowing that he is going on stage with a Maestral model.
Well, we also just sent him a brand new Siroco, which he is really appreciating, so chances are that he might be using it with the Master of Masters. Congratulations Poti!
Hace unos meses Paquito González me comentó que había visto un cajón desmontable en la tienda Tam Tam de Sevilla "...y no suena mal".
Conociendo su moderación en los juicios, supe enseguida que lo habían conseguido.
Lo que yo había muchas veces tratado de inventar: un cajón que reduciera su tamaño, ya existia, y estaba en salud.
Justo cuando acababamos de estrenar el sistema de sustituciòn de tapa, llega un invento màs espectacular, "robando la escena", asì que me puse por internet y lo encontré enseguida.
Si antes estaba ya convencido, ahora lo veía clarísimo: logico, simple, con herramientas comunes, de toda la vida, como me gusta a mi.
A few months ago Paquito González called me and told that he'd just seen a dismountable cajón at Tam Tam shop in Seville, and "...it doesn't sound bad".
Knowing his moderation of judgement, it was clear to me that they did it.
What I had tried to figure out many times, a cajón that could reduce, was now alive and kicking.
Just when we finished releasing our new patent, here it comes a more spectacular invention, "stealing the show", so I got on the internet and there it was.
If I was already quite sure of the outcome, now it was crystal clear: logical, simple, built with common hardware, the way I like it.

Decidì llamarle por telefono y felicitarle, y también preguntarle si estuviera interesado en venderme una licencia de algun tipo, pero nada más contestar el teléfono, tuve la impresión de reencontrar un amigo al que no veía desde hace mucho tiempo, y en breve se nos metió en la cabeza que se podría hacer algo más, osea una verdadera colaboración, fundir el cajon desmontable "Omeya" con el cajon de tapa removible "Maestral".
I already knew the brand, J. Leiva Percussion, having seen other instruments of his in various music shops, and I already noticed his original and inventive mechanisms.
I decided to call him up to congratulate him, and also to find out if there was a chance of using his mechanism on a license basis, but as soon as he picked up the phone it was like meeting again a long lost friend, and before we knew it, we were discussing the possibility to do something more, a real collaboration, joining the dismountable cajón "Omeya" with the removable front "Maestral".

La buena onda en la que estuvimos desde esta primera conversación nos puso en una condición inesperada, de tener ganas de conocernos y trabajar juntos.
Resulta que tenemos la misma edad, dos hijas de la misma edad, y claro, las patentes también.
Un par de semanas después Pepe vino con su mujer Aurora y Carmen a Igualada, (un viaje de 800 km!) y allì nos reunimos con mi mujer Francesca y Nina.
Nos lo pasamos muy bien, y decidimos seguir adelante con el proyecto.
Ahora por fin, el cajón Siroco es una realidad, las primeras tres unidades han salido para Los Angeles, Paris y Frankfurt, a nuestras distribuidoras.
Queda un ejemplar, que estamos esperando entregar a uno de nuestros endorsers para el "bautizo" en el escenario.
Ya os informaré....
The good vibe we hit since our first conversation put us in an unexpected situation, wanting to know each other and work together.
So it turns out that we have the same age, and so do our daughters, and yes, our patents too...
A couple of weeks later Pepe drove some 800 km and brought his wife Aurora and Carmen to Igualada, where my wife Francesca and Nina awaited their arrival.
We had a ball, and decided to go ahead with the project.
Now, at last, the Siroco cajón is a reality, the first three units have left for Los Angeles, Paris and Frankfurt, to our distributors.
There is one unit left, that we are waiting to deliver to one of our endorsers, for the "christening" on stage.
Marco is one of the featured artists at the 23rd International Drummer Meeting in Salzgitter, Germany.
The three day workshop event presents eight international drummers, and a very special spot has been granted to Marco, starting with a two hours concert (!). www.drumparade.de
Quite a titanic task, but there's no doubt that he will manage to make it a success; incidentally, he just won the reader's poll by Italian music magazine Insound, as best national percussionist in 2011. www.insound.it
