ADIOS MANGUE'

We all grieve the great loss of Manuel Vàsquez Goyoneche, also known as Mangüé.
Coming from a family of great exponents of the Afro Peruvian musical tradition, namely Porfirio and Abelardo Vásquez, he was one of the greatest percussionist of his generation.
I did not have the great luck of meeting him in person, but I did have the privilege of including his performances on the documentary The Ways of the Cajón.
In that episode, which was filmed by Aremi Macedo, he appears playing the Checo, the Cajita
and dancing an unforgettable Zapateo together with Maria Goyoneche, Cotito, Carlitos Medrano and Mario Arguedas on guitar.
I would like to share it with as many people as possible, to keep in our memories his incredible feel.
Farewell Maestro!
