Tom Chapman: cajón in the UK

I am happy to introduce the new website of Tom Chapman, an excellent musician and dear friend.
Tom helped with a musical contribution on the documentary "Los Caminos del Cajón", and we have kept a close cooperation ever since.
His main projects are very good folk music acts, appearing at international events.

In a similar way to what Flamenco musicians did, he is putting the cajón as the rhythmic foundation for a traditional musical setting, in this case British Folk.
Once again, the cajón blends perfectly with the other acoustic instruments, and while keeping the essential vibe of that musical language, it adds something which feels natural, and compatible.
Tom has a great sound on the instrument, and takes the role of the cajonero with musicality, without overplaying, but also taking his spaces when is needed.

De una forma parecida a lo que los musicos flamencos hicieron, Tom está poniendo el cajón como fundamento rítmico de un conjunto de musica tradicional, en este caso el folk británico.
Una vez más, el cajón se fusiona perfectamente con otros instrumentos acusticos, y a la vez que mantiene inalterado el sonido esenciál, la onda de aquel lenguaje musical, añade algo que se percibe como natural, y compatible.
Tom tiene un sonido muy bonito, y asume el papel de cajonero con musicalidad, sin tocar demasiado, pero también tomandose sus espacios cuando es debido.
Os recomiendo de verdad que les echéis una mirada!
